Why AVIF?
AVIF is the newest widely supported image format. Photos are often half the size of a comparable JPEG.
Encoding AVIF takes more work than other formats, so larger photos may take a few seconds on older devices.

Everything Pinchy does
One place for every file that’s too big. All of it runs on your device, free, with no account.
Compress images
JPEG · PNG · WebP · AVIF · GIF
The smallest file that still looks right, checked image by image. In Auto, Pinchy also picks the best format for each one.
Convert formats
JPEG ⇄ PNG ⇄ WebP ⇄ AVIF ⇄ GIF
Turn any of them into any other. Animated GIFs and WebPs stay animated, even when you switch between the two.
Shrink documents
PDF · PowerPoint · Word · Excel
The pictures inside get smaller, often halving the file. Text, fonts and layout stay exactly as they were.
Hit an exact size
Under 20 KB · 50 KB · 100 KB · any size
For upload forms, job portals and email limits. If it can’t fit at full size, Pinchy asks before making the picture smaller.
Remove hidden details
Location · camera · date
Photos carry where and when they were taken. Pinchy strips it out before you share them.
Whole folders at once
Any number of files
Drop a folder, however many subfolders deep. You get a zip back with the same folders inside.
Logos in your exact colours
Brand palette
Save your brand colours once, and logos come back in those exact hex codes, sharper and smaller.
Faces and text stay sharp
Saliency mode
Pinchy spots faces, text and the main subject and protects them while squeezing the rest harder.
Works anywhere
Phone · computer · offline
Any modern browser, no install. After your first visit it even works without a connection.
04
Private by design
Most compressors upload your images to their servers. Pinchy doesn’t, and can’t.
Nothing is uploaded
Your own device does the work, right in the browser. Your images never travel anywhere.
Locked down by the browser
Pinchy’s security settings stop the page from sending files anywhere. Check your network panel: nothing leaves.
Safe for sensitive work
Client work, unreleased designs, ID scans, internal documents: compress them without a second thought.

How it works
- Step 01
Pick a folder, drop your files
Compress, convert, or shrink a PDF or Office file. As many as you like, whole folders too; paste works as well.
- Step 02
Pinchy finds the sweet spot
It works out whether each image is a photo, screenshot or logo and finds the smallest file that still looks right. In Auto, it picks the best format too.
- Step 03
Compare and download
Check before and after side by side, then download one by one or all at once.

For the everyday jobs
Extra tools for designers and teams who compress images every day. Free, like everything else.
Whole folders, any number of files
Drop a whole folder from your computer, or choose one, with any number of images inside, however many subfolders deep. Pinchy keeps the folder structure in the zip, so everything lands where you expect.
Saliency mode
Pinchy finds what matters in each picture — faces, text and the main subject — and protects those areas while compressing everything else harder. You get smaller files that still look right where it counts. It all runs on your device, like everything else.
Brand palette
Save your brand colours once, and Pinchy snaps every logo and graphic to them exactly — with smooth edges and much smaller files. A colour check confirms your hex codes match to the last digit.

Questions
01Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Pinchy compresses images with your own device, inside your browser. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else’s.
This isn’t just a promise: the site’s security settings stop the page from sending your files anywhere. You can check by opening your browser’s network panel while you compress.
02How does Pinchy decide how much to compress?
For every image, Pinchy tries different quality levels and compares each one with your original using a visual similarity score (SSIM). It keeps the smallest file that still meets the bar for the preset you picked.
It looks most closely at the detailed parts of the picture, like edges and text, because that’s where compression shows first.
03What do Smallest, Balanced and Looks identical mean?
Balanced is the default: noticeably smaller files that look the same at normal viewing size. Looks identical keeps differences invisible even up close. Smallest squeezes hardest, for when size matters more than the finest detail.
04What does the Auto format do?
Auto works out what each image is and picks the format that suits it. Photos become AVIF or WebP. Logos, icons and screenshots stay sharp as lossless or reduced-colour PNG or WebP, whichever is smaller. Animated GIFs stay animated, as GIF or WebP, whichever is smaller.
If AVIF turns out to be slow on your device, Pinchy switches to WebP for the rest of your visit.
